Year Books

FYI everybody, they sell old yearbooks at the Student Store.

I just bought a 1975 year book for our upcoming reunion.  It cost $50, cash only.  They also had 1976, 1977, and many others. It felt great to go back, walk around campus, and tell my husband a lot of good memories.

Hope for a good turn out at  he reunion in October.  I am surprised at the low registration so far.

Acheive the Honorable 2015

On June 1, 2015' Monday is Acheive the Honorable at Hollywood High, 5:30 pm in the auditorium. A special memorium to June Hardwood, Art Tearcher at Hollywood High for over 15 years! The association will be be giving a scholarship to a deserving art student at the ceremony. Come join in, cake and lemonade for refreshments and and a wonderful ceremony of scholarships awarded to seniors who acheived the honorable!

thinking back but looking ahead.

On Sunday, the 31st I will be 85 years young. Graduated in the summer of 48 at the Hollywood Bowl. Sports editor my senior year. Chairman of our 50th reunion committee. Our reunion was held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel  in the same room where the first Academy Awards were held.  If you were in my class 1945 to 1848 I would like to hear from you.

RICHARD P. ROGERS October 22, 1920 - January 31, 2015

Moved to Hollywood from New York and graduated from Hollywood High School. Started working at Lockheed Aircraft Corp. Skunk Works in 1940. He met his wife, Devi at the roller rink in Hollywood and eloped to Las Vegas in 1941. They were married 74 years. Aprile Millo, Opera And Hollywood High

Aprile Millo, an operatic soprano with the Metropolitan Opera, was in my grade at Hollywood High. I'll never forget the first time I heard her sing, in our dusty auditorium, where she tamed a wild audience with her amazing voice. I wrote a blog post about those five minutes.

Sudden Death of Retired HHS English Teacher at 82 years old

Harry Major, HHS retired English Teacher was found dead in his condo last week. Detectives are calling it a homicide, but no new information is available as yet.

No news of a memorial or funeral as yet. We did hear that there was blunt trauma to his head and his credit cards were missing, but this newest information is not confirmed.

"In the Heights" wins Best Musical at the Jerry Herman Awards

Sunday, June 19th, 2013.  It was the final performance of Hollywood High’s “In the Heights”.  The cast and crew and parents were emotional and exhausted, but everyone had to change into their “red carpet clothes” as we were heading to the 2nd Annual Jerry Herman Awards at the Pantages immediately. 

The Jerry Herman Awards is the local award ceremony for the National High School Musical Theater Awards, also known as the Jimmy’s, which are held annually on Broadway…
