Richard Rippey

"So sorry to hear of his passing, as well...I would echo Jeff's comments; had Mr. Rippey in 7th grade at Le Conte as well...I/m sure he would have just been starting his career at that point...saw him in the early 2000's at one of the Grad…"

Marcel Ophuls: Academy Award recipient

Marcel Ophuls attended Hollywood High during World War 2, but was drafted for the army when he was 18 in 1946. Upon his discharge from the military he attended U.C. Berkeley. Then in 1950 Marcel and his family returned to Paris where he worked on films with John Huston and François Truffaut honing his craft. His career moved…See More

Oscar Winner

Marcel Ophuls…Hollywood High School Alumnus…Oscar Winner I always knew there were a lot of talented people who had attended my alma mater Hollywood High School in California, but I had no knowledge of the Academy Award winner Marcel Ophuls until recently. He won the Oscar for his documentary film “Hotel Terminus: The Life and Times of Klaus Barbie” in 1988. The movie also received the International Critics Prize at the Cannes Film Festival that same year. His father was Max Ophuls was also a…See More

"Wow, really shocked about Mr. Rippey's passing! I need to check this website more often. Mr. Rippey went to HHS with my older brother Chris. In the early 60's he became my gym teacher at LeConte Jr. One day he walked up to me to ask if I…"

Good bye, Mr. Rippey

I originally wrote this entry for Facebook on April 29.  I only just learned that Mr. Rippey passed away on April 30.  How incredibly coincidental.  Consider this to be merely a remembrance from a former student.  “Mr. Rippey Never Had a Cavity”Today I was sitting in the dentist chair and I suddenly recalled Mr. Rippey…See More

Fellow January and June 1967 Hollywood High School grads!

This is a Call for Commitment!

It’s been 50 years since we graduated, and 20 years since the summer class had its last reunion. So it’s about time to connect again in person – beyond Facebook and Instagram! Plans are underway for a reunion Saturday evening, July 8, 2017.

We have a “soft hold” on a dining room right on the beach at Gladstones restaurant where Sunset Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway meet in Los Angeles.

We need a commitment from 50 alumni and guests to attend the Class of 1967 50-year Reunion at a cost of $110 each. Right now we only need the commitment as soon as possible – or sooner! -- so we can move forward. Collection of checks will happen later. Please respond to HHSClass1967@aol.com and please spread the word to other 1967 HHS grads! Thanks from your planners, Mark (Bruce) Ostrian and Rosalie Drantch Fox Huntington.
