Respecting Our Differences

There are generalizations about all generations but be very careful not to accept negative stereotypes, because those in the Silent or Traditional generation are not necessarily inept at programming the VCR, and all Millennials are not short on work ethic. Accurate insights into each other based…

Please Do These 3 Things

1. Surround themselves with positive people who believe that this life is not all that there is. Personally, I find this at my local church. This email goes out to thousands of people all over the world. I know we don't share the same faith in all cases. This message is not about my faith. It is…

Einstein and his Chauffeur

When Albert Einstein was making the rounds of the speaker's circuit, he

usually found himself eagerly longing to get back to his laboratory work.

One night as they were driving to yet another rubber-chicken dinner.

Einstein mentioned to his chauffeur (a man who somewhat resembled Einstein

in looks & manner) that he was tired of speech making.

"I have an idea, boss," his chauffeur said. "I've heard you give this

speech so many times. I'll bet I could give…

10 Golden Rules for Writing the Perfect Email

1. Hone your subject line

Try to be more specific. Instead of giving your email the name 'Byrne project', call it 'Byrne project: new deadline for phase 2'. Your email is already more interesting than most.

2. Don't bury the lead

If you want to annoy people, make them read three…

The program is a good one for maintaining the 100% confidential nature of our membership list.

If you’d like to reach a member of the Hollywood High School Alumni Association, you can send a copy of your letter and a postage stamp for each person you’d…

Memoirs from Wilk Perry S'49

We moved to Hollywood in 1940.  The house my parents bought at 5826 La Mirada Avenue that cost $5200.00 and it had 2 small rentals.  I was 10 years old a real wimp.  I attended Santa Monica Blvd. Street School for 2 years.  Marbles, kick-ball and tetherball were the games of choice on the playground.  We played, in the street, a game called kick the can and over the line.  We never locked our door to the house, because everyone in the neighborhood had the same front door key.  We were never…

Take a Proactive Approach to Your Health

Think of your body as a high-powered, finely engineered transportation vehicle, like a space shuttle. Instead of liquid hydrogen, your body is powered by your own intake. The food you eat is the fuel that energizes the vehicle. What you put in your fuel tank is burned by your high performance activity or - in the case of low-octane, junk food - is deposited in your engine. Think of your mind as the driver who takes control of and steers your body to victory or hits the wall. Your body is…

THE TWO CHOICES WE FACE

I received today's wonderful thoughts from Jim Rohn and wanted to share them with you!

Each of us has two distinct choices to make about what we will do with our lives. The first choice we can make is to be less than we have the capacity to be. To earn less. To have less. To read less and think less. To try less and discipline ourselves less. These are the choices that lead to an empty life. These are the choices that, once made, lead to a life of constant apprehension…
