Harry Major, HHS retired English Teacher was found dead in his condo last week. Detectives are calling it a homicide, but no new information is available as yet.

It is my very sad responsibility to advise the HHS Alumni Association that Leo passed away on January 21, 2013. He was not ill very long - pancreatic cancer was discovered just after the New Year (the tumor on December 18) and it rapidly went to his liver. He was on continual pain medicine and hospice care for about 1 week and died peacefully.…

A long-time resident of Upland, Florene Dick passed away December 4, 2012. She was 9 years old. She was born in Los Angeles on January 18, 1922. She graduated from Hollywood High School and attended LACC as a journalism major. She was a reporter for several newspapers, editor of the Azusa Herald, and a free-lance writer and photographer for Trailer Life Magazine. She is survived by 3 children, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Leif Roebuck Ball passed away October 16, 2011 in San Fernando Valley, CA. He was born and raised in Hollywood, graduating from Hollywood High School, Class of 1935. He was he was in the centerfold for after school sports in the 1949 Poinsettia.
Following high School he worked for his Dad, Henry in the family business. He was a Captain in the Army during WWII stationed in England where he met his wife of 52 years and they had three (3) children together.

Ed passed away March 31, 2011 in the VA Hospice in San Fernando Valley. He lettered in Track and was on the HHS Varsity Football Team. He received a Masters in Chemistry from CSULA and was the Head Research Chemist at Whittaker Corporation. In 1984 he was diagnosed with cancer and given a prognosis of one year to live.
