You live in a great area! My wife and I would live there (some where in or between Gig Harbor or the San Juan Island) but for family locations, the dark at or near 3 PM for part of the year, and the fact that we can't pull off two homes (one to avoid the previous 'but for').
I was envious about the snake back then since reptiles were verboten in my home. Oh well, my kids had them, and two still do. The snake was a close second to Mrs.Kopf's fetus in the large, institutional size, mayo jar.
If your Indo connection turns up any jobs for a 32 y.o. American kid (my second oldest son) with an aquatic biology degree (UCSB) and who speaks fluent Indonesian, let me know. He lives in Jakarta with Indonesian wife and one child (one month from two children) and teaches English at a Korean school.
I practice law here in California, and am slowing edging toward retirement -hopefully in a way that will allow me to earn my extra keep with mediations and arbitrations. That remains in the future, but looms ever larger since my wife retired as a teacher in June.
I will send you an email with my personal email address.

PS We just had some almost fresh (but frozen for safety) halibut filets from the San Juans as caught by a daughter visiting the area. Oh, so good!
