Just wondering if there are any plans being made for a 50th Reunion for the Class of 1961.
If not, how do we get the ball rolling?

Bill Holland:

Do you know of a reunion for our 50th?

I've been trying to find one, or, trying to start one.

It would sad not to have some consideration to plan for the fifty year anniversary. After all I remember it was a graduating classe of over 300. If their is anything I can do to support. Please let me know. Jim Sheldon Class of '61

Since it is June 2, I under the impression that the 50 year anniversary isn't going to happen. When I attended the 25th Hollywood high anniversary at the former Ambassador Hotel, only 6 others came besides me. That's surprising because my wife's 25th anniversary (with a much smaller class than we had) must of had over 100 in attendance? I believe the Hollywood High location is now a rough or difficult area. Anyway that's my impression when I was down their years ago. So if their is no 50th anniversary for us this year, I understand. Hope all is well with all my former class mates. Sincerely, Jim Sheldon

Hi James:

I graduated in W'61 and our class was around 125. We had a 40th at the home of a classmate, Hugh Lipton, and there were probably about 30 ex-Sheiks in attendance. I thought the S'61 class was close to 500. In any event, Hollywood has certainly changed over the years and many grads have left the area. Myself, I now live in Northridge and am probably one of the "close ones." Not sure how many are still in L.A. county. It seems a shame that there is no traction for a formal reunion, but I think the prevailing feeling is that the "glory days of Hollywood" are but a fond memory. And putting a reunion together is a lot of work. If some others are willing to pick up the ball and run with it, I'll do what I can.

Bill,

How refreshing to have a responce from a fellow classmate. I see your picture on page 67 of the 61 "Poinsettia" Book. By the way I am on page 88 top left, and of course I haven't change at all. Well maybe a little bit. Anyway, I feel like you do, I would like to support financially my share, but but not take the lead. So Bill I appreciate your correspondence and wish you a successful and a happy life in the days or years we have yet to live. James (Jim) Sheldon

Dear Classmates:

We can still have a 50th reunion!

I am willing to work on it, and will need help.

I live in Northern CA, though, though, not where HHS is.

Right now I am working on our second web site, and hopefully will launch it before our graduation date -

was that June 11th? - 50 years ago.

So, I am concentrating on that.

Hi Susan:

I'm sure that with today's social media (i.e. Facebook, Classmates.com, etc.) there would be a ready source for follow-up on locating folks who graduated in '61.  Having something in September/October (minimum) would make sense as it will no doubt take at least 3-4 months to plan this and gain support. Will the site you're creating have the ability to gather names and contact data? I think this is the kind of thing that could snowball if five people each contact five people, who in turn each contact five people, etc. Just three or four "rounds" would pretty much cover the basis.

Yes, Bill. I am using Joomla, a Content Management System.

A Fall date sounds good.

Where would you suggest we do it?
