In Loving Remembrance of Robert Buckley '38

Bob Buckley was kidnapped by his Mother from Buffalo, New York, who stole away to Hollywood, California, where she did have some minor success in the movies. She didn't have a lot of roles, so of course, they didn't lead their middle-class Buffalo life, but were very impoverished. Bob said their poverty wasn't that important, because he always credited Hollywood High with having given him an extraordinarily good education, and wonderful friends. I believe it, because he was a Renaissance man, well known and highly respected in Buffalo. Besides rising from messenger to newspaper editor, he was an accomplished writer--often published, a successful arranger of choral music, a reknown expert and teacher of music of the 20s, 30s and 40s, a pianist and performer on the classical and jazz harmonica, an award-winning film maker, an expert on steam trains, and trolleys, a collector of antique cars, a terrific tennis player, on and on, but mostly, my precious darling. He was so grateful for all of you working to strengthen the Hollywood High ties. Sincerely Desi Buckley

Robert passed away on July of 2010.
