Are the media’s predictions that books are obsolete true? Not according to what is going on at the Hollywood High’s School Library. On any given day one will see students in the library using both books and the Internet to conduct research and to read for pleasure. The library book circulation continues to increase each year. According to the Library circulation statistics, it is not unusual for an average of 441 books to be checked out each month. That is approximately 4,000 books for a school year!
Unfortunately, the budget cuts to education over the last few years have resulted in very little money being allocated towards the purchase of library books. Funding is needed in order to continue to stock popular fiction titles, as well as update the non-fiction sections of the library.
Any cash donations would be used to keep the HHS Library shelves stocked with new, interesting and up-to-date titles. Please make your donations to the Hollywood High School Alumni Association at donate.hhsalum.org and indicate your donation is for "Library Books."
If you have any questions, please contact Sherri Whitham the school librarian at slw9414@lausd.net or at (323) 993-1759. Thank you in advance for all of your support to the HHS Library.
