Shirley Norby

"Shirley (Sanders) Norby passed away at age 99 on 10/28/2025. She served as Treasurer of the HHS Alumni Assn for decades and thoroughly enjoyed doing so. She especially liked seeing the scholarship recipients, and she continued to enjoy the HHS musical performances into her late 80's. 

 

She was an active member of the Toluca Lake Children's Hospital Guild and volunteered in the Hospital's thrift shop and gift shop for many years. She attended St. Charles Church and was active in their senior club and activities. She was also an active No. Hollywood Women Republicans member and volunteer. 

 

She was a native Californian grew up in Hollywood, graduated from HHS in 1944, and attended UCLA. She is survived by three of her four children, five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. In addition to her family, she loved volunteering for the above organizations, HHS, dancing, and playing cards."

February 12th was Shirley's birthday. She would have been 100. Sue and I were very lucky to find her a home for her last few months where she was loved, valued and received excellent care. We were also fortunate to be there the day she died. She did love HHS and the Alumni Assn.
