As our Class of 2012 makes preparations to graduate, we find a picture from the 1912 graduating class...a very small group of students indeed! A mere six rows of students out on the front lawn of Hollywood High School. They did have palm trees back then. The boys wore jackets and ties and the girls were formally dressed as well.

This public domain image was…

Elvis Costello Returns to Hollywood High

Okay, so the actual Elvis Costello and The Attractions won't be popping in just yet, but this 45 rpm vinyl single is in virtually new MINTY condition and was donated by eBay user John Ingham (eBay ID jonh5), who sent this beautiful gift all the way from London to become a part of our Hollywood High School Alumni Museum.

"I lived in…

CNN Showcases Hollywood High School's Incredible Diversity

“Hollywood has always struck me as a place where it doesn’t matter where you are from,” says Principal Jaime Morales, who immigrated from Nicaragua. “You are welcome here.”

These resounding words are quite indicative of the diversity of the school today.

CNN recently showcased Hollywood High Schools diversity in a wonderful piece that was produced by Chuck Conder. We've shared this with you in this post.

There are students in desperate need of help reaching…

Middle Class Scholarship Act Slashes College Fees By 2/3

Although the Hollywood High School Alumni Association does not actively participate in any political agendas, I personally found that one of our representatives has been working with The Assembly Speaker on an initiative to cut college tuition fees at CSU and UC colleges by 2/3.

43rd District Assemblyman Mike Gatto and The Assembly Speaker introduced legislation that would propose to dramatically reduce the cost of attending state colleges.

Here are some comments he made on…

I was doing some YouTube research and would you believe the top-ranked videos for the keywords "Hollywood High" are folks using the school grounds as a skate part--videos documenting the various skaters who come to show off their talents. My Life in Lights - Growing up at Hollywood High - By Mary Melton (From Los Angeles Magazine)

Every opera house has a phantom, every theater its ghost. The drama students at Hollywood High School have, for as many years as anyone can recall, shared their auditorium with Olivia. While crossing the stage in a Christmas processional, the story goes, Olivia burned to death when the candle she carried lit her papier-mache dress. Her spirit ascended into the catwalk above the…

Do You Wikipedia?

I was very impressed to see that our listing in the National Register of Historic Places was posted so quickly on Wikipedia. I also wanted to encourage you, if you like to Wiki, to review and update our page on Wikipedia. Possible content is far greater than what is actually on there. I'd love to see this page grow and encompass the depth of valuable information really out there about our school.

If you have the desire to Wiki, please go here and make some valuable…
